fb's
Friendship books (also known as "FBs" in their abbreviated form) are small booklets made by stapling paper together, or are sometimes just sheets or strips of paper. They are usually decorated and the person who starts the book writes their name and address as the first person sending the book. People often include a list of interests as well. The FB is then passed around from penpal to penpal, and can often also become a way for one to meet new penpals. Most people hope to see the book again once it is full so they add their return address to the back cover of the book too, or inscribe "Return to Sender" on it. People also sometimes make FBs for someone else rather than themselves, in which case they write the name and address of the recipient on the front/at the top. Some people find friendship books fun because you can see where they have been in a trail back to the original sender/recipient. (via wikipedia)

Cub Scout Day Camp
Lucas is off to his first Idaho Cub Scout Day Camp. Here there is only two days versus the 4 in Ohio. Tomorrow, I get to be in charge of one of the stations that the boys will get to visit. I hope it's not scorching hot!

Disappointing 4th
I had a great plan in mind for the 4th of July. Failed.
The town of Idaho City advertised a very fun day. In the end, we got a lame parade, no outhouse races as promised (only one team entered the race), and too many people trying to buy food from one vendor.
We ended up driving up to Lowell, over to Banks, then back home. A stop at the nearest Fat City Fireworks tent proved to be the most fun, as it seemed that half the houses in Star were shooting off fireworks in the streets or backyards.
Sad note: this was our first 4th of July without the traditional party at my folks house with Grandpa's slip-n-slide down the hill, sweet corn, and a family softball (who can hit the ball out of the yard) game.
Sigh...
