Hell's Canyon, Hells Gate

Well, my little family went on their 2nd annual Idaho Family Campout.  Finances are are always tight, so it is just a weekend thing we do & we try to have as much fun as possible spending as little money as possible.

This year our destination was Hell's Canyon.  Just before you arrive in Riggins, there is a turnoff that will take you up into the mountains.  My husband found the perfect spot about 10 1/2 miles up.  We passed some breathtaking sights on the way up.  (Looking down the side of the mountain while someone else is driving is not for the faint of heart!)

The evening there afforded us a view of the meteorior shower, strange sounds from the forest, and a lovely & quiet evening.

The next day, we headed up towards Lewiston & Hell's Gate.

I highly recommend bringing a boat or jet skis if you come up this way.  The river was just full of fun water sports & tour boats.

On the way home, we learned about the Nez Perce.

There was a lovely spot along the Salmon River we had to stop at on the way home!

Obviously, I was able to add some new postcards to my collections.  Look for those photos in the coming days!
